Family-friendly New Year’s fun in the ‘burbs!
Happy 2015 from the Suburban Jungle Realty Group! There’s plenty going on in the ‘burbs this week, especially if you’re looking for some family-friendly ways to ring in the New Year. Here’s a roundup of a few we’re looking forward to:
Ring in the New Year at New Roc City in New Rochelle. The event runs from 10:30am – 12:30pm on the 31st, so you’ll have plenty of time to celebrate with the kids before hitting the town. Our favorite piece of this annual tradition? The 3,000-balloon drop at “midnight.”
First Night Maplewood-South Orange is back and, starting at 5:00pm on New Year’s Eve, is hosting a family fun event at Columbia High School. Tickets are $20 and available online or at several area locations. For your admission you get a TON, including live animals, dancing, magic acts, face painting, food vendors and even an appearance by 90s cover band, The Nerds.
Say goodbye to 2014 (and a BIG “hello!” to 2015!) at the Long Island Children’s Museum in Garden City. The event is themed “Bling in the New Year” and features an exciting countdown starting at the other 12:00…noon! The face painting, dancing, music and other fun activities fun until 4:00pm on Wednesday.
Not to be outdone by NJ, First Night 2015 is also popping up in Connecticut.
The Westport event is celebrating its 21st year, starting at 4:00pm (and ending promptly at 10:00pm!) on December 31st. The event’s happening at Saugatuck Elementary School, with free shuttles from Downtown Westport. For $15 you’ll get access to a host of great activities, including live performances, food, face painting and much more.
Happy New Year!
