I hope you and your family enjoyed a wonderful, restful Thanksgiving and Hanukah week—and now we’re just 19 days away from the next big celebration! It sounds like, despite the hustle and bustle of the feasts, the festivities and all of that crazy shopping, many of you still found time to check out some new neighborhoods, new towns and new happenings in places you’re considering calling “home.” It’s a great time of year to explore!

 

Despite the holiday slow down, this past week was a busy one in the real estate market. , a new app that mines data from the Census and helps users find the perfect spot for them based on a host of specifications. And, echoing what Suburban Jungle president Ali Bernstein said in her piece with last month, . Buyers are typically more willing to cut a deal—you can thank cold weather and shorter days for that—and can feel the pressure of getting everything closed before January 1.

Getting out and about this weekend? There’s so much going on outside of the city limits! Here are a few we won’t be missing:

 

 

 

 

 on Saturday at 7:00pm in Westfield. The performance includes holiday favorites, sing-a-longs, surprises for the whole family and much more. Tickets are $25+ for adults and $12 for kids and students.

 

 

 

 

Head to the  on Saturday beginning at 10:00am. Enjoy food and refreshments while shopping for everyone on your list! Artisans and vendors will be showing off their latest and greatest, from antique, vintage and fine jewelry, décor, florals, art, sculptures, collectibles and more.

 

 

 

 

 is happening this Saturday starting at 10:00am at the Library on Prospect Avenue. This popular family event features a host of handcrafted gifts and exciting pieces made by local artisans. 

 

 

 

 

On Sunday Syosset is hosting its  at Astoria Bank Plaza. The event starts at 3:30pm with complimentary snacks and warm refreshments and includes an hour-long holiday concert and lighting of the community Christmas tree and menorah—all followed by a visit from Santa himself!
