Weekly Round Up: Thanksgiving Week!
Back to Blog Page
Happy Thanksgiving week! We hope you’re enjoying some fun, relaxing time with friends and loved ones, and are relishing in all the food, family and, of course, football!
We know now is a very busy time for real estate—in October, Suburban Jungle president Ali Bernstein spoke to TheStreet about the best time to buy. Her advice? House hunt in November and December when there’s less competition . And we’re right in the thick of it!
And there’s another good reason to get out there sooner rather than later: in September, U.S. home prices rose at their fastest rate since February 2006—AKA, the peak of the housing bubble. Single-family homes in 20 major metro markets averaged a 13.3% increase year-over-year, and nearly 1% over the month prior. Start looking now—the lack of competition in the cold weather months could be your advantage.
We know this is a popular weekend to check out homes and neighborhoods—and there’s TONS going on! Here are some of our faves:
· Beloved family-friendly musician Dan Zanes is bringing his wacky brilliance to Montclair for a post-Thanksgiving performance on Saturday . His old friend Father Goose is joining, too! Tickets are just $25 and kids under 2 are free.
· Experience the classic tale of greedy Ebenezer Scrooge like never before at the Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow. The musical opens Thanksgiving weekend and runs through mid-December.
· The 27th annual holiday extravaganza, The Nutcracker, in Port Washington features a mix of adult professionals and local pre-professionals, in a delightful, child-friendly classical ballet performance. Performances are November 30th and December 1st at The Jeanne Rimsky Theater.
· Westport Town Hall is playing host to including Greg Wall and Ayn Sof Arkestra and Bigger Band, with Later Prophets and Zion80. These titans of the NYC downtown jazz scene are in Westport for 1 night only!
Enjoy the holiday weekend!
